Last week I played at the Hasting Nebraska Public Library.  They had a fun night where they planned a family picnic with hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks.  It was supposed to be outside but with the stormy weather they had it inside their library.  They have a great room for activities like this!!  It was nice to see families eat together and then after their meal I played music for an hour.  They danced, sang, moved to the music and had a fun time!  There were a couple of older ladies without children that came and enjoyed the music and even did the actions to my silly kids songs.  I had a great time playing for this. 

This week I am playing a coffee shop in Phillipsburg and I am really looking forward to it and hoping I get a good crowd of people.  It is fun to see families come and enjoy things like this together.  I have tried for a couple of years to do an evening family show at a coffee shop or restaurant in Hays and everyone says it sounds like a good idea but it never happens.  I have talked to other performers that play music like I do in other cities and they say it works great.  I think families might enjoy themselves once in a while on a evening where they can take their children with them and relax while they eat their meal and see their children being entertained by something besides watching TV or playing a video game.  Live interactive music that keeps them active both mentally and physically!!!

Do any parents have any comments about this type of activity in Hays or any other place??

I really enjoy performing the music I write for all the people at the libraries, festivals and birthday parties!!  This summer has been especially fun for me.  I feel like people are really enjoying my music and I have gained many fans on my facebook page and reverbnation pages.  I also had the experience of collaborating with Anand Bhatt on a charity CD project for Simply Smiles.  This is very exciting to be part of something like this.  I also have a song called "Floppy Arm" in the semi-finals of a songwriting contest out of Dallas.  I can't forget to say how much I enjoy having my wife, Niki, travel with me and be my partner in my adventures.  We have been traveling all over and I love having her company!!!   The few shows that she hasn't been able to go on make me realize how boring it is to not have her by my side!!  Family time is very important and it is exciting to see families having fun together at my shows!!!  Please take some time to take a listen to my anti-bullying songs I have written.  The songs have a special place in my heart.  Since I am a teacher I see how kids can treat each other sometimes and is very sad to see kids that get picked on and bullied.  I hope that my songs will make a positive difference in someones life!
